Welcome to HCOMDI
We work hand-in-hand with communities to foster sustainable development, build resilience, and create lasting impact for future generations.

A Legacy of Community Impact
Hikima Community Mobilization and Development Initiative (HCOMDI) is an independent registered non-government and nonprofit civil society organization based at Sokoto State. HCOMDI prime motto is capacity building and services delivery to the deprived and marginalized people of the society. In 2007 a group of educated, dynamic and like-minded youth working in the development sector, got together to establish an organization, for addressing the most urgent and pressing needs of the community people across the 23 LGAs of Sokoto State.
Our Approach & Philosophy
We put people first. Our participatory approach empowers communities to take charge of their own development.
What HCOMDI Does?
Influenced by the new development paradigm, which puts people before things, HCOMDI follows a participatory approach. The traditional knowledge of the rural poor is valued and respected, and there is confidence that rural people are capable of self-reliant organization. We function as a 'change agent' to develop community management structures that are capable of managing their own development without creating parallel structures.
Our Approach
During the process of social mobilization, HCOMDI adopted a participatory, self-help, self-sustainable approach through community involvement and formation of volunteer groups in remote rural areas.
Our Philosophy
Sustainable rural development is a dynamic process posing various needs at different phases of time. These can be dealt with continuous interventions based on designed frameworks that incorporate the requirements projected by the communities, strategizing for public-private partnership.
Scope of Work
HCOMDI has strong linkages with major NGOs and funding agencies working in Nigeria. We undertake initiatives in Sokoto State through collaboration with local CBOs and activists, enjoying rich experience working in diverse socio-cultural environments and extensive networking with local government, civil society, media, and traditional institutions.
